President)
Recognizing February 28, 2002, as "History Day at the Capitol".

Whereas, West Virginia is a state rich with history; and

Whereas, Our historians preserve, protect and promote local,
regional and state history; and

Whereas, On "History Day at the Capitol", the halls are filled
with historical exhibits important to our state; and

Whereas, A focus of the 2002 "History Day at the Capitol" will
be "History Heroes", which recognizes citizens from across the
state who have made grassroots contributions to the preservation of
local, regional or state history; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate hereby recognizes February 28, 2002, as
"History Day at the Capitol"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Senate recognizes the importance of
preserving our history and commends our historians who have
contributed much to preserving, protecting and promoting local, regional and state history; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to the West Virginia Archives and History
Commission.
